Operating Engineers Local 101 jurisdiction includes fifty-six counties in Western Missouri and the entire state of Kansas. The Local 101 Apprenticeship and Skill Improvement Fund provides apprenticeship training opportunities and journey level upgrading courses throughout this area. The Apprenticeship Program maintains three full-time training facilities, which are open each weekday and on scheduled weekends.
The Weston Missouri Heavy Equipment Operator Training School is located on 220 acres, seven miles north of the Kansas City International Airport, in Platte County Missouri. The site provides training opportunities for apprentices and members from the Kansas City, Missouri, St. Joseph, Missouri and Topeka, Kansas areas. Apprenticeship classes, as well as numerous upgrading classes, are conducted at this facility during the winter months and are open to Local 101 members. The Fund office is also located at this site.
The Bolivar Missouri Heavy Equipment Operator Training School, located on 100 acres, twenty miles north of Springfield, Missouri, provides year-round training opportunities for apprentices and members in the Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas areas. Apprenticeship classes and journey level courses are offered at this site during the winter months.
The Clearwater Heavy Equipment Operator Training School is located on 80 acres in Sedgwick County, Kansas, approximately 5 miles south of the Wichita City limits and is primarily utilized for crane operator training and NCCCO Crane Operator Certification due to the demand for certified operators in the area's oil refineries.
