Trustees

 
JOHN M. HOLLIDAY III was elected a trustee in July 2008 and later elected chairman of the Trustees. A second-generation Operating Engineer, Holliday has been a member since 1960.  He was elected to union office and business agent in 1970, and later elected as business manager in 1992. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He served as a board member of the Knoxville World's Fair. He is the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Tennessee Valley Operating Engineers Health Fund. He is the current president of the South Atlantic Conference of Operating Engineers, and serves as president of the Chattanooga Building Trades.

JOHN T. AHERN was elected a trustee in 2004.  He also is a trustee of the IUOE Northeastern States Conference and a member of the Stationary Advisory Committee.  He has been business manager/financial secretary of Local 30 in Richmond Hill, NY, since September 1999.  He joined the local in 1974 and completed its apprenticeship program.  He has served the local as business rep, president and assistant business manager.  Ahern has served as a vice president of the Long Island Federation of Labor and the NY Central Labor Council, and has served on the DOL Labor Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship.

MIKE GALLAGHER has served as a trustee since October 2005.  He has been business manager of Local 793 in Toronto since October 1996.  He joined the local in May 1985 and work as an operator for several years.  He is a vice president of the Ontario Provincial Building & Construction Trades Council and a director of the Ontario Construction Secretariat since 1996.  Gallagher also was appointed by the director of provincial training to the Special Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship Representing Civil Trades.  He also is a past director of the Multi-Employer Benefits Council of Canada.


KUBA J. BROWN was elected a trustee in July 2006.  He is the business manager/president of Local 94 in New York City, an office has held since September 2004 and served as assistant business manager and vice president for the prior 10 years and as a business representative from 1985 to 1994.  He joined the IUOE in August 1971 and later entered the Local 94 apprenticeship program.  He serves as the co-chair and a trustee on the Local 94 Health and Benefit, Annuity and Training Funds.  Brown also sits on a number of NYC building code committees, including the fire code and electrical code committees.

GLEN JOHNSON was elected a trustee in September 2008. Johnson followed in his grandfather’s footsteps when he joined Local 49 in 1979.  He later worked for the local as a business agent.  He became an International field representative for a number of years, before returning to the local and being elected business manager in 2003. Under his leadership, Local 49 built a first-class training center. He serves as a trustee of the local’s Apprenticeship Fund and a trustee for the state building trades. He’s also a member of the Workers Compensation Advisory Committee to the Minnesota House and Senate and an election judge in Warsaw Township.
